The Orion SkyQuest XT6 Classic Dobsonian Telescope Kit is truly one of the best beginner telescope values on the market today, as it will open up the night sky for your entire family to discover. Built around a big 6" (152mm) parabolic primary mirror, the XT6 collects nearly 80% more light than a 4.5" reflector telescope, rendering brighter views of the cosmos with greater detail.
With a focal length of 1178mm (f/7.7), the XT6 performs especially well for planetary and lunar observation. Bright planets such as Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars show an impressive amount of detail, and the Moon's crater-pocked surface will keep you captivated night after night. This new version of the SkyQuest XT6 features a 2" Crayford focuser, which allows the use of optional 2" eyepieces. An included 2"-to-1.25" step-down adapter accommodates 1.25" eyepieces, such as the 25mm Plossl that comes with the telescope, providing a significant 47x magnifying power.
The XT6's 44"-long enameled steel optical tube glides with silky smoothness on the sturdy Dobsonian base. You just grasp the front of the tube and point it toward your target using simple up-down and left-right motions. The "red dot" (LED) finder scope makes it easy to find your target object and center it in the telescope's eyepiece.
Only the Orion SkyQuest XT6 Kit comes with additional accessories to enhance your viewing experience: Orion's 2x Short Barlow lens, MoonMap 260, DeepMap 600, Telescope Observer's Guide, RedBeam LED flashlight, and a smartphone photo adapter for taking pictures through the telescope's eyepiece.
If you're looking for a powerful, easy-to-use, and affordable telescope, you can't go wrong with the Orion SkyQuest XT6 Classic Dobsonian Kit. With its simple hands-on, point-and-view navigation without complicating counterweights, gears, clutches, polar alignment, or the need to balance the tube, it is easy and fun to use. The stable Dobsonian base provides vibration-free images even when viewing at high powers, and features smooth motions to make manual tracking of celestial objects a breeze.
Meets or exceeds all California State Environmental Quality and Safety Regulations (CARB 93120 Phase 2 Compliant).
